(Late Again) January Newsletter

Who doesn't like a brass cannon and a piece of RAF Tangmere's tower (partially demolished - not by me)?

In what is becoming a bit of a habit, albeit a rather poor one, my January missive to you is late. I hope you’ll forgive me, I’m am currently writing two books at once. 

The first, THE HUNTERS AND THE WRATH, is almost complete, or at least the first draft is, and is available for digital pre-order on https://getbook.at/HuntersAndWrath

It will be published on May 22, just a few weeks before the anniversary of the D-Day landings. It tells the story of Jox and his new Wing taking part in the greatest amphibious operation in history, flying Hawker Typhoons and Tempests, the dreaded Jabos feared by all German troops in Normandy. His new unit will also contend with the Führer’s wrath, the devastating V-1 Doodlebugs targeting southern England. It’s going to be epic.

My other current project will need to stay under wraps for the moment, but I can promise you some exciting news in the next few months.

In the meantime, and in the spirit of beginnings, my offering to newsletter subscribers this month is an excerpt from an anthology of short stories about the evacuation from Dunkirk in 1940, in which I’ve collaborated with a few authors I share a genre and publisher with. It’s called A MIRACLE OF DELIVERANCE, after Winston Churchill’s description of the evacuation.

Those familiar with my Jox McNabb stories will know that when at Dunkirk, our hero met Marguerite, a little Belgian refugee, who he loses touch with during a subsequent Stuka attack. He fears the worse and carries her dolly’s porcelain arm as a talisman for the rest of the war, a constant reminder of why he’s fighting the war. This excerpt, the first portion of her short story, is I suppose an ‘origin’ story for Jox’s many adventures to come. I hope it resonates. The anthology will be published on 17^th April 2026.
