Gosh, doesn’t time slip away at this time of year. My October missive was late and went out in November and then I ran out of that month too, so here we are in December.
For me, November has always been about commemoration. My grandfather, father and I all served so it is important for me to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us. I’ve always had an interest in military cemeteries, so it is of little surprise that my ghost story, THE BROOKWOOD BOYS is set in Brookwood Military Cemetery, Surrey, UK, near where I used to live. Early in his RAF career, Jox survives the maelstrom of Dunkirk in 1940. This is where he meets Marguerite, a little Belgian refugee, who he subsequently loses in a Stuka attack. He carries her dolly’s porcelain arm as a talisman for the rest of the war, a constant reminder why he is fighting the war. Her story (a back-story to Jox’s, I suppose) is part of a compilation of short stories on which I have collaborated with a number of authors I share a publisher with. Titled after Winston Churchill’s description of the evacuation, A MIRACLE OF DELIVERANCE is published in April 2026 and is on pre-order. It’s well worth checking out. The sixth novel of Jox McNabb’s WW2 Aviation series, THE RAPIDS AND THE ABBEY will be published on Christmas Eve. It is currently on pre-order at cost-friendly pricing, so you can get a Kindle copy before the big day. If you’d prefer a hard copy that will need to wait until after Christmas. I feel sure you have better things to do on the day than read my war novels. However, as a counter point, for all of you who receive a new digital reading device, Kindle or otherwise, I can warmly recommend my story of Jox’s trials and tribulations during the final, brutal throes of the Italian campaign. Check it out: https://getbook.at/RapidsAndTheAbbey

The next book in the Jox McNabb story, THE HUNTERS AND THE WRATH is progressing ahead of schedule. It will tell the story of Jox and his men taking part in the greatest amphibious operation in history. They will be flying Hawker Typhoons and Tempests, the dreaded Jabos feared by all German troops in Normandy. Jox and his new unit will also have contend with the Führer’s wrath, the devastating V-1 Doodlebugs. I attach an exclusive first peek at what the cover will look like, bar a few tweaks. Pre-order details will be available on https://author.to/PatrickLarsimont

So, until the next time, thank you for the ongoing support and have a very merry Christmas and prosperous new year.
